Deny Usernames with Special Characters

In the Paypal Pro Forms the default form for registration states "no special characters" but there does not seem to be any validation to that effect. Users still register successfully with underscores, periods and dashes.. despite it breaking the functionality of the site profiles.
Is there any way to deny successful registration when a user uses special characters?
I've spent all week manually removing broken registrations : /
Also:
Is it possible to add an email validation field (so user has to enter it twice to cancel out common errors)?
*I think i've asked before as well- for instruction on adding validation to custom fields.

Oh - yes, sorry. Username in particular.
It needs to not have special characters - but still allows users to put them in : /

I see. I registerd an account with some characters and didn't have a problem. Could you paste some examples of usernames that break your registration so I try them, please?

Sorry to interfere guys but I have a similar problem. Some clients try to register by using capital letters on their username but the system doesn't allow them which is fine. My problem is, how do I alter the registration form and add a note that only lower case letters and numbers are allowed?
At the moment, I have to inform them after having received a complain email that they can't register. How do I add a note? I am using the free version of s2member.

Dimitrios, I'm not sure why you're having that problem either. In my installation I logged out, went to the registration form and registered a usernme all in caps (HELLOTEST) and didn't have a problem. Could you post some examples of the ones you're having trouble with?
Are you using the WP registration page or a pro-form?

Hi Cristian
I do not have the pro version of s2member. Does the pro version allow for any letters to be used?
I do not any example as it is my clients that complain they can't register, and when I tell them not to use capitals, they reply that this WAS the problem, they were using capitals.
Back to the point: How can I add a note to that page? Or, will the problem be solved if I buy the pro version?
