auto-generated passwords not working

Hi-

I have a magazine subscription site up and running 3 people have signed up this week that have not been able to log in with the auto-generated password.

If I go in and edit their password to something different, they can log in just fine.

So it appears as if the password is not storing in the database. Can someone help me debug this?
