keep non members on the original article's permalink

At present if a person hasn't got sufficient priveleges to see a page they get redirected to another page (selected from the back end). Is there any way that they could somehow stay on the permalink for the page they tried to see, but see the restricted content message.
I would ideally like it to be possible for a user to land on the page they originally tried to see if they use a login box while on a restricted page, without having to navigate back to the page they were trying to see.
For example, say I am trying to navigate to 'members info' page, but I have forgotten to log in so I land on the 'restricted content' page. I then use a login module located on the header to login - I would like to automatically go to the 'members info' page once I'm successfully logged in.
Is this possible?
thanks,
zander
