Payment Duration vs. Membership Duration

s2member is a great and I'm still getting use to using it in the most efficient way. Thanks for this awesome plugin.

I want to be able to have a different payment duration than the membership duration... for instance, if I want to have various payment plans for the same amount of membership time. ie. one payment of $1400 for a year access... 4 payments of $350 for a year access... 10 payments of $140 for a year access... (all of which being re-occurring). Is there a way to do this with the latest updates to s2member?

EDIT: I'm using the Authorize.net gateway

I just don't want it to set up re-occurring payments of $350 and then I have to manually remember to go in a stop it from charging them after the first 4 months... and even if I did I believe it would end their membership as well, since they're tied together.

Trying to figure this out... thanks for your help.

You could have a button for each payment plan. Generate the first button and then the other ones would be copies of the first but with the attributes edited.

Here's a full reference to them: WP Admin -> s2Member -> Authorize.Net Pro-Forms -> Shortcode Attributes (Explained).

Thanks for the response.

For some reason, it still doesn't seem like I can accomplish creating a billing period that has a different duration than the membership period. I saw the "Shortcode Attributes" page before, but there is nothing specific to billing re-occurrence period or billing re-occurrence term... the "Regular Period" and "Regular Term" seem to bundle billing and membership as one, and sees them as a matching timeframe... if that makes sense.

As a better example... lets say I wanted a button to have "billing re-occurrences = 4", "billing term = M", and "billing amount = $350".... meanwhile keeping "membership period = 1" and "membership term = Y"... that's what I want to know if is possible. It doesn't seem like it to me, but I wanted to be sure.

Again, if I'm missing something, please forgive me... I would greatly appreciate clarification if it is in fact possible to accomplish this.

Thank you.

Well, PayPal has its limitations in that regard, but you could test in the sandbox the attribute combinations you want and see if the system will take them.
