I am trying to follow the detailed instructions to set up the Paypal Account Details. I am asked to provide API Credentials this way: Profile -> Request API Credentials. So i go to
Paypal -> Profile -> API Access -> Request API Credentials
Then i am asked which option I want:
- Request API signature or Request API certificate

Which one will give me the API Credentials needed?

So request your API signature and enter it, along with the other PayPal API fields under WP Admin -> s2Member -> PayPal Options -> PayPal Account Details.

I'm a tad confused about this.

I went to the same links provided and I keep coming back to this page:

Which is asking for 1 of 2 options:

1.) Add/Edit API PERMISSIONS or
2.) View API CERTIFICATE.

API Permissions takes you to a page that allows you to add 3rd Party Resources, such as an external website to paypal (like mine), but its looking for a validated API such as godaddy or google, not lil ol me.

Viewing my API Certificate in this case, hmmmm well I can download it. And its quite a nice bit of encryption. However, its not what we're looking for is it, no its not.

Hmmm, now gosh, where is the ability to create an API Signature here...Hmmmm, gosh I wonder ?

Reading this document (https://cms.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/?&cmd ... 84E30I30RO), which you have to admit doesn't answer the question of WHERE IS YOUR API SIGNATURE LOCATED ??? and is just a little long in the tooth, but quite an interesting read on API basics and why SOAP is necessary....but again, DOESN'T ANSWER THE FRAKKIN' QUESTION...SO again WHERE THE FRAK is the damned thing ?!?!?!?!?!?

Pardon me but I've been at this for about 4 or 5 hours and still not getting anywhere....

Anyone ? Bueller ? Bueller ?

Hi Miles.

In your PayPal account, go to: Profile -> Request API Credentials.

WP Admin -> s2Member -> PayPal Options -> Account Details -> Your PayPal API Signature

Have you actually done what you suggest ? Because that place no longer exists via PayPal's interface!

I've attached 3 files, that represent what the user sees following YOUR suggested path of:

Profile -> Request API Credentials.

In the first case, the user would see a drop down menu for PROFILE (see attachment 1)



In the second case, the user sees NOT "Request API Credentials" but rather on the 4th selection menu from the LEFT, "SELLING TOOLS", and then under SELLING ONLINE, you'd see "API ACCESS", (see attachment number 2)



From here, as you can see, there is NOTHING the resembles "Request API Credentials". You only have 1 of 2 options!

1.) Add/Edit API Permissions, which is talking about where the api is registered to run from.
2.) Viewing the API Certificate.

Im not blind, Im not stupid, and I'm not dumb. Your directions are in ERR because PP has changed its layout. Now where is this frakkin' thing!?!?!?!??!

I had copied that path from the documentation under WP Admin -> s2Member -> PayPal Options -> Account Details -> Your PayPal API Signature. I'm sorry, we had not noticed that PayPal changed the interface. Thanks for the heads up! I'll notify Jason now.

I just went to that API Access page you show in the last screenshot and Option 2, for me, has a link that says "Request API credentials". I guess that you probably already got them and that's why the link instead says "View API Certificate".

Well no Cristián I don't already have them, that's why I am asking!

Viewing the API Certificate, is viewing an SSL Cert, and that's not what you folks are on about now is it ? I think not.

Any other suggestions ?

Thanks Jason. I don't have that interface anymore, but I found that I could get it back using the link "See the classic Profile version" below the new version's navigation on the left:

My client has an API certificate and not an API signature. What is the difference and what can be done to use the certificate instead of the signature?

Sorry, s2Member uses PayPal's NVP API, and we use the recommended API Signature, not an API Certificate. The last time I spoke with PayPal about this, they were unable to have one account with both an API Signature and also an API Certificate ( I know, weird ). Anyway, I was told they would be working to make this possible. You might check with PayPal support to see if they can swing this on your account.
