Delayed Registration

I have purchased s2member pro and have it set up with paypal pro. I have searched google and these forums for an answer to my question but havent found one yet. Is there any way to have s2members delay user registration to a future year. For example if a user registers today but they want to have an account for 2013. Can s2members accept their payment and on January 1st of 2013 make that member active?

s2Member doesn't work like that out of the box, but I believe it may be possible to customize it that way.

I am curious, though, in what situation would this be used?

We are working on a website for an honors council and s2members will be managing their member registrations. They allow institutions to request and pay for a future membership for their students that will be joining next school year or the year after. I think for now we will have to have those members register through snail mail. We also need the ability to register members for a calendar year. So if a member registers today their membership would expire on January 1st. I don't see any way for s2members do this out of the box either but I do have some idea's on how to do it with some custom code. If you know of any way to do it your help would be much appreciated.

Got it. I'll think about it and let you know if I come with some something. ;)
