Best Fit?

Postby xcelerated1 » March 31st, 2011, 7:30 pm

This is what I need to accomplish with sc2:

- User HAS to Login

- User can purchase by Post or a Pack of Posts

- Only one login allowed per account at the same time.

I do not want to do a member level subscription. Sign in and buy your posts ala carte but you HAVE to sign in.

The site has embedded live and on demand broadcasts.

Thoughts?

Has to login as a paid member, or even as a free member?

If you want to disable or enable free registrations, that's done from WP Admin -> s2Member -> Open Registrations / Free Subscribers.

Free subscribers are set to Level 0, so you'd require Level 0 for all your content and then they'd have to log in. URI restrictions would probably be the simplest way to achieve that for the whole website WP Admin -> s2Member -> URI Restrictions.

To sell the content without levels, you could use Specific Post/Page Access.

WP Admin -> s2Member -> Specific Post/Page Access.

Now, it may be better to use Custom Capabilities to create the bundles of pages. Each page could have its own capability attached to it, and then the form to purchase the package could allow the person to choose what pages to get, adding them to the order. Then all the capabilities (pages) chosen would be added to the account to allow access to them.

WP Admin -> s2Member -> API / Scripting -> Custom Capabilities

I hope that helps. :)

What do you suggest is the best way with NO login?

I could be OK with users "buying" posts also.

With no login? You'd have to go with Specific Post/Page Access, I believe.

The only problem I see with that, though, is that each time the person wants to go see the pages, he'll have to find the emails with the links to them. Since he doesn't have an account he's logged into, s2Member won't know what pages he's payed for or not unless he uses the special link to it.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention Cristián.
Cristián is correct. If you want to sell access to your site, with NO login required, you'll want to use s2Member's Specific Post/Page Access.

Taken from: s2Member -> PayPal Buttons -> Specific Post/Page Access.
s2Member now supports an additional layer of functionality ( very powerful ), which allows you to sell access to specific Posts/Pages that you've created in WordPress®. Specific Post/Page Access works independently from Member Level Access. That is, you can sell an unlimited number of Posts/Pages using "Buy Now" Buttons, and your Customers will NOT be required to have a Membership Account with your site in order to receive access. If they are already a Member, that's fine, but they won't need to be.

In other words, Customers will NOT need to login, just to receive access to the Specific Post/Page they purchased access to. s2Member will immediately redirect the Customer to the Specific Post/Page after checkout is completed successfully. An email is also sent to the Customer with a link ( see: s2Member -> PayPal® Options -> Specific Post/Page Email ). Authentication is handled automatically through self-expiring links, good for 72 hours by default, or up to 5 years if you wish.

Specific Post/Page Access, is sort of like selling a product. Only, instead of shipping anything to the Customer, you just give them access to a specific Post/Page on your site; one that you created in WordPress®. A Specific Post/Page that is protected by s2Member, might contain a download link for your eBook, access to file & music downloads, access to additional support services, and the list goes on and on. The possibilities with this are endless; as long as your digital product can be delivered through access to a WordPress® Post/Page that you've created. To protect Specific Posts/Pages, please see: s2Member -> General Options -> Specific Post/Page Access Restrictions.
