I Dont Have a Paypal API Signature

I dont have a paypal API signature, apparently because I'm already using the api as a certificate (which I can not change because I run another store through Volusion and they require this). I purchased the pro member last night but I get an error when I put the form up because I dont have the sig information entered. What do I do??

Hmm...

Although you can have both a signature and certificate, you cannot use both at the same time.

I don't know if that means they can't be used in the same script, or even by different scripts.

You could request the signature, set s2Member up with it and see if both scripts will still work fine. If not, you'll probably have to get another PayPal account (as your partner maybe?) for the second script?

I'll ask Jason his opinion too, he may have a better idea.

Thanks Cristian, Ill look into it. Creating a new paypal account isnt really practical though since I would also have to open another bank account for it. I wish I had known that the forms absolutely would not work w/o the signature (the buttons do) before investing in pro, since Im unable to use any of the pro features.

I was also wondering, if I sign up for paypal pro with recurring billing enabled, will I also be able to create subscription based buttons that don't require a paypal account if a user wants to pay by credit card?

I'm asking Jason to see if he has a solution. Also to confirm what you asked last.

Yes, this is correct. PayPal does NOT allow you to have both an API Signature and an API Certificate at the same time. PayPal recommends the use of an API Signature as the best option available: https://cms.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/?cmd= ... 84E30I30RO

So although I realize this does not work well for you, PayPal's API Signature is the most compatible across multiple services operating against one PayPal account. You might check with Volusion Support to see if they have updated their system to support PayPal API Signatures.

* If they have, please report back. We'd love to hear about it.

Not to my knowledge. From what I understand, PayPal's ERP ( Enhanced Recurring Payments ) service is the ONLY way to accomplish this with Standard Buttons. Having a PayPal Pro account means that you cannot have the ERP service. These two services: PayPal Website Payments Pro, and ERP ( Enhanced Recurring Payments ) are mutually exclusive. So because you can't have a PayPal Pro account with ERP as well, it is not possible to have one PayPal account that works both ways for you.

That being said, if you have a PayPal Pro account, there usually is no reason to send credit card Customers to PayPal via Buttons. Instead, you would use s2Member's Pro Form integrations in conjunction with a PayPal Pro account. If certain Customers prefer to pay with PayPal, that option is made available during checkout, and it uses PayPal "Express" Checkout ( which is even better in most cases ).

Just to clarify, you cannot integrate s2Member Pro with PayPal Pro, until you have an API Signature.
