Authorize.net Questions

Postby denvert » April 12th, 2011, 5:04 pm

I have a couple of questions, i'm sure they're answered somewhere but couldn't find answers so forgive me if they've been covered already.

I'm setting up a site with authorize.net with a number of level one subscriptions that have access to different categories in wordpress. I'm creating a free trial that gives them access to all the different features (one of two "package deal subscriptions").

So my questions are what happens if:

1) they want to upgrade to a paid subscription to any of the 1 level accounts, what would be the best way to set that up

2) when the free membership is over is their an checking system to keep them from creating a new free account from the same ip address used before?

3) After the free account is over will the be able to create a paid account (whether or not there is an ip checking system in place)

Thanks

Wouldn't it work to have a free trial when they purchase the Level 1? That way they'll automatically be charged after the trial is over.

The free trial is for the package that contains access to all the different "single" category subscriptions. So it doesn't really fit. It fits for the one package that includes all of them all but not the single packages.

How does the system handle the free members? Can you restrict users using a different e-mail with the same i.p adress from creating a free membership?

Also, what about the other question as to how trial members are treated after they are no longer trial members and want to become a member?

I think I'm getting confused with your use of "trial" for members. I understand it as a period where the person is still not charged, but will be once the EOT is up. You seem to be using it for free memberships that don't really have an EOT in the system and will not be charged after it unless they use another button to purchase. Am I right?

Also, I don't fully understand how you want to structure your membership. Could you please explain it in more detail? I'd appreciate it and may be able to help you better.

Thanks! :)

Yes the first part is correct. There are 4 different areas of the site all set up using custom capabilities and the "1" membership. I got this idea form one of the videos. Each area has its own subscription. There is also a membership that combines 2 of them and 4 of them. My client wants the free trial to include all 4 things so the individual can sample them all and decide which service they would like to purchase. Does that make more sense? If you give your private e-mail I can send you a link to the site so you can see what i'm talking about.

Thanks for the explanation, I think I understand what you want to create.

It looks like s2Member Pro's Pro-Forms is what may help you achieve this. WP Admin -> s2Member -> PayPal Pro-Forms -> PayPal Pro / Free Registration Form

One Form Does It All For Free Registrations ( copy/paste )

Whenever a visitor registers without paying, they'll automatically become a Free Subscriber, at Level #0.

*Note* the use of this particular Form will override your Open Registration configuration. In other words, making this Form available is the same as turning Open Registration (on). One of the benefits to this functionality, is that it makes it possible for you to integrate this Free Registration Form in creative ways ( i.e. making it available ONLY under certain circumstances ); while still leaving Open Registration (off) throughout the rest of the site.

*Tip ( optional )* It is also possible to change the level="0" Attribute to something other than the default Level #0 ( Free Subscriber ). For example, if you need to, you can change it to level="1", attach Custom Capabilities with the ccaps="" Attribute, and even limit this access to a certain timeframe with tp="30" tt="D" ( i.e. 30 Days ). So this Form is very flexible. It can be used to allow free access to just about any aspect of your service. For more information on Attributes, please see the section below: Shortcode Attributes ( Explained ).

WordPress® Shortcode: ( recommended for both the WordPress® Visual & HTML Editors )
[s2Member-Pro-PayPal-Form register="1" level="0" ccaps="" desc="Signup now, it's Free!" custom="yoursite.com" tp="0" tt="D" captcha="clean" /]
