Manually Create Membership with Payment ?

Postby Crunch » July 13th, 2010, 10:13 am

Looking for advice before purchase.
With the questions below is Pro version better, even if not using Paypal Pro?

Currently we have a membership system that..
- A new member can create a membership via our site and PayPal.
- Committee member creates a membership for a person who comes into the office and pays over the counter.

I realize we can do the first with your software. What about the second?

Can we manually create a membership for the person using the computer in the office. Set the membership for one year. Take their $$ and record the fact in their profile. Then after one year, can member log into their membership and make a paypal payment for their second and subsequent years membership.

Also is it possible to 'print' current members, do search of members by level etc?

Thanks

Hi there. Thanks for the great questions.
Looking for advice before purchase.

s2Member Pro ( in its current form ) is primarily designed to add support for PayPal Pro. However, that is going to change significantly going forward, as many new features are planned for s2Member Pro. That being said, the things you've outlined below can be accomplished easily with just the free version of s2Member.

Currently we have a membership system that..
- A new member can create a membership via our site and PayPal.
- Committee member creates a membership for a person who comes into the office and pays over the counter.

I realize we can do the first with your software. What about the second?

Yes, you can log into your WP Dashboard, and navigate to Users -> Add New. There you can choose an s2Member Role that should be assigned; and have a Username/Password emailed to the Customer automatically. After creating the account manually, you can then click "Edit" next to that Customer in the list. This will pull up several form fields, where you can manually create an Auto-EOT Time, enter a PayPal Subscr. ID manually ( if you'd like ), even add administrative notations, etc.

Then after one year, can member log into their membership and make a paypal payment for their second and subsequent years membership.

Yes. You'll want to have a look in your WP Dashboard, under:
s2Member -> PayPal Buttons -> Modification Buttons.

Also is it possible to 'print' current members, do search of members by level etc?

Absolutely. In your WP Dashboard, go to: Users, and a list will be displayed for you. From that one page, you can filter your database records with specific s2Member Levels, and/or perform searches against your database.
