Package a lifetime access page with a monthly subscription?

Hello there,

I'm in need of help on another part of this site I'm setting up which is to allow someone to buy a page and then get 90 days of free access to the membership site. If they choose not to continue to pay monthly after that, they will still have lifetime access to the page they paid for. I would like it to be something like, "Your free subscription has come to an end. To continue accessing the membership site, use this link to select a plan".

I have s2member Pro
Paypal Pro
Reoccurring billing

What would be some solutions for this?

Hmm... So you want a combination of the Specific Post/Page Access and the Subscription with a 90 day free trial with PayPal Pro?

I'll ask Jason how this could be done in an automated way, because you could sell the subscription with an initial amount that'd cover the specific post/page, but then you'd need to create the access link to that by hand and give it to the member. Hopefully there's a way to automate it.

That's what I was thinking of doing. The page they bought would have a link to the 90 day trial they would need to activate.

Thanks!

Thanks for a great question.
I suppose there are several ways you could deal with this. I'll walk you through the method I would use, and if this does not satisfy your needs, please write back and we'll take another look for you.

So what I would do is sell the Specific Post/Page at whatever price you like. Then, on that Specific Post/Page, create a link that points to another Page on your site, where you will insert a Pro Form Shortcode for Free Registration at whatever Membership Level you'd like their Trial to operate on.

Please watch this short video as a primer on "Free Registration At Different Levels".
http://www.s2member.com/free-registrati ... vel-video/

Now, something I didn't mention in that video, is that you can also configure the tp="" tt="" Attributes in your Free Registration Form, so that free access is denied after a certain period of time. At which point, s2Member would demote the Member back down to Level #0, and you can use Conditionals to display a message on the Login Welcome Page. Something like, "Your Membership Has Expired, please click here to pay for continued access at Level #1 or higher".

For help on Conditionals, see: Dashboard -> s2Member -> API Scripting -> Simple/Advanced Conditionals, or watch this video. http://www.s2member.com/advanced-conditionals-video/

For the Free Registration Form, I recommend Level #1 access, that lasts for 90 days.
This is a Free Registration Form, configured to run with s2Member Pro.
( this provides free access at Level #1 for a period of 90 days )
Code: Select all
[s2Member-Pro-PayPal-Form register="1" level="1" ccaps="" desc="Signup now, it's Free for 90 Days!" custom="localhost" tp="90" tt="D" captcha="clean" /]

Awesome Jason and this is just along the lines of what I was thinking!

I've configured Level 1 to be for people who purchase single pages this way I can continue to show them interesting things on sidebar and engage them while Level 2 is for the actual membership for the site.

I'm going to try adding those conditionals to a form so they can go ahead and register for the membership via a special free trial link.

Thanks!

I'm trying to adjust the attributes so it will recognize the person is already a member and not require them to go through the billing part. I've tried several variations with register, modify, tp, ta, ra.

Is there a happy medium where I can allow an existing member to upgrade for a period of time using the Pro forms without requiring modification of the billing cycle or is this asking too much and I should rework the workflow or just do a trial?

Code: Select all

[s2Member-Pro-PayPal-Form register="0" level="2" ccaps="" desc="Description and pricing details here." ta="0.00" custom="freshworkshops.com" tp="3" tt="M" modify="1" default_country_code="" captcha="0" /]

You're very welcome.
Sorry, I'm not sure I understand exactly. They are upgrading from what exactly, to what exactly? Once I see clearly I'll do the best I can to get you there.

No worries.

I would like to sell two memberships essentially.

The first will include a single page with content. The subscriber will have a lifetime subscription.

The second will be a 90 day "trial" to the membership plan but I would like for the person to not be automatically rebilled. I don't want to have to deal with chargebacks or have people feel frustrated who wanted to just buy something and not have ongoing billing.

Billing wise, I want them to be able to use a credit card and not require a Paypal account so I was already a Paypal Pro member so I added the $30 reoccurring billing. I bought s2member Pro back in January.

I've been testing things again tonight and think I'm close, if I give them an EOT (need to figure out how to do this via a Paypal button) and they drop down to level 0 but with a custom capability, they can still see the page they purchased. This would still allow me to upsell a membership later on without them losing access to what they paid for.

The problem when I tried your description above is linking them to another form will treat them like they're not logged in (and ask for username, email, name) or prompt them for billing information based on the modify and register attributes.

This is what I have right now:

Code: Select all
[s2Member-PayPal-Button level="2" ccaps="rtbyoww,l23mofree" desc="Lifetime access / Build Your Own Wordpress Website plus 3 months of Standard membership." ps="paypal" cc="USD" ns="1" level="2" custom="freshworkshops.com" ta="0" tp="0" tt="D" ra="79" rp="3" rt="M" rr="BN" image="default" output="button" /]

Let me know if I need to look at this from a different angle as well.

Thanks!

VideoThanks for the follow-up.

I decided to do a video tutorial covering the topic you've raised here.
You can watch the video tutorial here, and please let me know if anything is unclear.

Jason,

Thanks for making the video!

I need to correct the workflow stated though. This is what I'm looking to do:

Vistor to site > purchases a single page with bonus of 90 days member access > pays with Paypal or credit card without Paypal via Express checkout > Gains access to single page > Problem giving them 90 day access to membership at level 2

All customers pay on the site with the primary items being the membership and single page items.
Under the free account, users can sign up to have access to a sample training page.

I want to offer a free 90 day membership to some of the customers who bought a single page item. I would like to upset the free users to a membership or to purchase a single page item and/or a membership.

I want to have customers buy access to a single page via a subscription so they have a Wordpress account. That way I can "manage" them as a customer because I will be providing services associated with their single page purchase and need to track when they purchased the page. They will have lifetime access to this page.

The problem I was running into creating a Paypal Pro form with a 90 day trial to a different level was that It would not allow me to insert a form to modify their level without requiring billing information.

What I am now doing is selling them a page using the custom capabilities and leaving them at level 0.

I would provide 90 days of free access to Level 2 and be able to recognize they're already logged in but it seems in the form code that certain attributes (modify, register) cause the billing information to be shown.

I suppose I could give them a 3 month subscription at level 2 and then they would be downgraded and due to their custom capabilities would continue to have access to the single page.

I hope that helps explain it!

Thanks for the follow-up.

purchases a single page with bonus of 90 days member access

I assume you're referring to s2Member's "Specific Post/Page Access", is that correct?

Or maybe any kind of page, as long as it's protected?

Adria, do you need that page to be sold without requiring the person to have an account?

Followup!

Ok! This so totally worked perfectly for new customers!

I created a button for a 3 month, non re-occurring subscription with a custom capability to give them access to the page and tested it. Love it that s2member cancels the Paypal reoccurring billing and the customer get that notice as well.

Code: Select all
[s2Member-PayPal-Button level="1" ccaps="rtbyoww" desc="Lifetime access To Build Your Own Wordpress Website Video plus 3 months of Standard memberships.  This plan does not continue billing after your trial ends." ps="paypal" cc="USD" ns="1" custom="freshworkshops.com" ta="0" tp="0" tt="D" ra="79" rp="1" rt="L" rr="BN" image="default" output="button" /]

Free membership with lifetime access to a single page
Code: Select all
[s2Member-Pro-PayPal-Form register="1" level="0" ccaps="rtbyoww desc="Wordpress Training Lifetime Access" custom="freshworkshops.com" tp="0" tt="D" captcha="clean" /]

But I'm still not sure how I would give someone a trial access to a membership level without providing billing information.
