Initial investigation completed.
( unable to reproduce bug so far )
  • I created a Test Page on your site with a $0.01 One Day subscription at Level #1.
  • I paid you $0.01 for access to Level #1. I received all confirmation emails successfully.
  • I also received this email confirmation from AWeber ( some details XXX'd out ).
This email confirmation is for the correct list ( i.e. tpipro ), and my access was granted at Level #1. This test was completed in Firefox 4 on a Windows PC.

Thanks for taking the time to look into this, Jason.

That's great that it worked for you...or maybe not - because it still does not explain how a new subscriber got dropped into Level 0 after completing the Paypal transaction for Level 1 (see May 4 entry of this thread); nor why another one never got a confirmation from S2member after completing his Paypal payment (May 5 entry of this thread.)

Got any ideas?

I know he was working on this for quite a while last night, trying to reproduce your problem and find what's causing it. I hope he posts an update soon.

About the lack of confirmation after payment, could you please post the IPN log entry for that case? x'ing out any private info, of course. /wp-content/plugins/s2member-logs/.

Here are 2 screenshots:

#1 (contains the name "Thomas") - I think this is the log entry where he payed at Paypal but did not get a confirmation. Thomas is my husband. ;) I had tried registering him previously, and removed him. So this last time I just used one of my email addresses for him, expecting that the system would not "recognize" him as having been there before. However, from looking at the code, the system recognized the email address as mine (I didn't think I had registered it there.) Thus, the log seems to say that they could not process the transaction because that email address was already associated with an admin account, and they couldn't demote me to Level 1 membership. .... at least that's how I interpret it.

#2 (contains the name "Sarah") - After completing the Paypal transaction, she was placed into Level 0 (free.) Not sure what the log means here.

Hope this helps with troubleshooting.

Thank you for sharing those, Pauline.

OK, in (1) you're correct, the account was considered an admin one and thus wasn't modified by s2Member.

In (2), it looks like the payment wasn't going through until PayPal stopped retrying, but by this time the account was already removed, either because of another IPN event or manually.

I suggest you run a totally new test, with an email address you double check is not for an admin account, a card that will go through and see what happens this time. Let us know how that goes. :)

Thanks. This helps me understand what's going on, as well as what to look for should something similar happen in the future.

I have another question, for which I started a new thread. Thanks again.

Pauline, I know you probably don't have the AWeber problem anymore, but I thought I'd let you know about this fix Jason posted today related to the list servers, which affects AWeber integration too. You may want to apply it if you don't want to wait until the next release where it's included. viewtopic.php?f=4&p=14805#p14805
