Change Password Issue

Postby leeh14 » May 10th, 2011, 3:38 am

Hi,

I have an issue and it looks like this might be a big one! Basically I am using the standard s2 members edit profile feature. If a user whats to change the password there are two boxes which I assume are; 'new password' and 'confirm new password' however you can type what ever you want in the second box and it will still submit.

What is going on?
can I fix this?

Hi Lee. :)

That's weird, it works fine for me. It sounds like you're having a JavaScript problem.

Watch this video and see if it helps you. http://www.s2member.com/options-page-di ... ing-video/

Thanks,

Well I manged to fix the issue it, you were right some JQuery was not being called. the command was:

?ws_plugin__s2member_js_w_globals=1&no-cache=42c0c08618a53e69592d8a71ba122372"

What I have done was simply add the line of code into my header and all works fine now. So my new question is why was this not being input into my code and more important what other JQuery might I be missing? does s2 members need anymore jquery elements to work?

s2Member uses jQuery quite a bit, but it's not something that has to worry you until you find an odd behavior like above, which was caused by a JS problem.

Did you find why it wasn't being loaded there? Did you deactivate other plugins to find one that was conflicting? Or maybe it was the theme?

Hummmmm, well what I did was open up the profile pop-up box and check what code was there. I saw the s2member JQuery and thought that I should add that to my main site, it worked.

I did not disable any plugins so there was not a conflict, it simple did not insert the JQuery. My theme is custom but thought I had the right code in place to make it standard maybe I missed something. But anyway it works for now and there does not seem to be any other issues. SO guess all is ok.

One more thing, what happens if a user closes the paypal site just after buying a membership are cookies installed meaning they can still register etc? What fail safes are in place for this?

Thanks for reporting these important issues.
~ and thanks for bringing this to my attention Cristián.

Regarding theme construction.
All themes should call upon this function inside the <head></head> section.
wp_head ();

Regarding procedures after checkout.
s2Member will make every effort to direct your Customer's immediately after checkout ( whenever possible ), depending on your Payment Gateway. Should a Customer fail to reach the registration page, or fail to receive cookies, or if s2Member is unable to handle this properly due to lack of support by your Payment Gateway; then your failsafe is s2Member's behind-the-scene processing, where it communicates directly with your Payment Gateway. s2Member will then send your Customer an email with a registration link that handles everything as if they never got to the registration page after checkout.
