manual renewals

Postby doctorproctor » May 18th, 2011, 9:10 pm

I've read a few discussion threads, and appreciate your prompt and knowledgable support. I realize that renewals notification is not yet provided in s2Member, and look forward to this feature. My question here concerns the possibility of manual renewals (i.e., renewal of a membership by admin), as our organization will have quite a few of its memberships paid by check. This is not a problem the first time, as I can create a new member via your Add a Member dashboard link. But what happens when this member renews? I can't see an immediate way to override the requirement that renewals be paid via PayPal (or similar online options, with the Pro version). There must be some sort of workaround; ideas welcome please, and I'm happy to purchase the Pro version if required.

Many thanks,

Jim P.

You can just edit the person's profile and modify the EOT date. WP Admin -> users -> Edit User -> s2Member Configuration & Profile Fields -> Automatic EOT Time

I hope that helps. :)

I am just trying to understand the capabilities. Can s2member handle the following? What is built-in and what do I have to code?

Scenario: I have a professional association site that has annual dues. No automatic recurring payments are allowed. The association wants members to log in and renew their commitment manually.

Members pay through a regular Paypal button. Can I setup the plug-in to automatically expire the membership after 1 year? Can they renew their membership before it expires? Will the plug-in tack on an additional 365 days to the expiration date or will it be 365 days from the day they purchase the renewal?

Thanks,
Ricki

Hi Ricki.

When you create the button, make it a buy-now for 1 year of access. WP Admin -> s2Member -> PayPal Buttons -> PayPal Subscr Modification Buttons

They can renew before it expires, by default time will be extended. WP Admin -> s2Member -> PayPal Options -> Automatic EOT Behaviour -> Fixed-Term Extensions.

I hope that helps. :)
