Resume Download Support

Hi,
I am still testing the free version, before I decide to go for the Pro or not. At the moment I use good old fashion .htaccess/passwd for the members area downloads. Now I am testing downloading from the protected folder from s2Member and I notice that download RESUME is not supported, while my server does support it.
In the old way Resume is no problem.
Does this have something to do with the special link/code needed that is put in front of the file?
Is there a way around this, because I have some large files aroung 1 GB so resume would be handy for members.

Thank you and regards, Ron

Thanks for the excellent question.
Sorry, no. This is pretty typical of a PHP-protected file system. It's not possible to resume a download from the last byte range whenever you're dealing with files protected by s2Member ( i.e. a PHP script ). In the development release though, we've introduced support for Amazon S3 storage of protected files, and it *might* be possible if you integrate with Amazon S3. I'll have to confirm that, but you're welcome to try it out. The development release will be made available publicly in just a matter of days. It's already available to all s2Member Pro Customers with an Unlimited Site License. viewtopic.php?f=4&t=2603

@TODO: attempt byte range resumable downloads with s2Member?

Thank you for the answer. I guess the members will just need to live without resume support. I just did a calculation at Amazon S3 and the monthly bill alone would come between 500-1000 $.
Maybe a idea for a future expansion for Pro.
At the moment I host at Dreamhost.com (very good in my opinion) and they also have a great system called Files Forever, a simular storage system next to hosting a website. The great part is that with the Files Forever system you can also sell your files, thru their payment system (only 5% charge - compaired to 15%CCbill, etc.) and they pay you out every month. Standard by Paypal, but checks are also possible. I have an execption with them and get a monthly wire-transfer due to my monthly high amount. I have been using them for years and never any problems.
If you would like more information about Dreamhost and their Files Forever system, contact them thru there website http://www.dreamhost.com/contact.cgi maybe best to mention the Files Forever system, so the message will be forwarded to the man in charged of it Josh.

Thank you and regards, Ron
