I am interested in purchasing s2member pro. I have a quick question however.

Let's assume I just want three access levels. To keep it simple, I'll call them:

Guests - Anyone not logged in.
Silver - Members who joined for free
Gold - Members who paid for a subscription.

Now, Silver members can buy individual digital items from a store I set up.
Gold members don't need to go to the store, because everything is available to them for free. (It is why they'd want to join in my case.)

What is critical - to me - is that the menu will work like this:

Silver Members see a button on the menu that says "Store" and DO NOT see a button intended for Gold members.

Gold members see a button on the menu that says "Member Items" and DO NOT see the "Store" button.

Can this be done?

If not, then obviously my menus become useless and navigation will only be useful if I post navigation links on every post/page rather than using a menu. That would be inane though and terribly clumsy for the user.

It seems to me that a key factor for any site that has subscription options is to follow a simple process:

Marketing -> Purchase -> Results.

For the end user, it seems like it would be annoying to join - and then still be stuck with seeing an endless tyrant of marketing material telling them they need to join. So, I suspect I'm just not understanding something - hence asking here.

So, I understand that the intention of the leveling system is to grant more and more content for higher ranking memberships. However, given that the lowest members are marketing targets; can I restrict Gold members from seeing what lower level members see?

Thank you. And look on the bright side...if this program works half as good as it sounds - I will officially turn my back on Joomla and Drupal and become a Wordpress junkie. : )

My partner just figured out how to restrict various content on a page/post by using custom conditionals. We got that to work. What about menu's however? BTW, I am pretty happy there is a lot of content and instructional material for this. We are in a super hurry though (buy it before wife gets home. ha ha.) and figured asking would be quicker. Thanks!

Yeah, conditionals would be a good way to prevent a higher level to see the content for a lower one.

I'm glad you find the documentation complete and helpful, and we'll be adding more were possible.

About the navigation, you could edit your template using s2Member advanced conditionals. WP Admin -> s2Member -> Using Advanced Conditionals and Advanced Query Conditionals
