Coupon code feature with PayPal standard

If I get s2 member Pro can I use the coupon codes feature even though I only have a PayPal standard account. So if someone clicks the PayPal button on our site they go onto the PayPal site where they will then be able to enter the coupon code and make payment?

Coupons don't work with PayPal the way you described it. Coupons work with s2Member's Pro-Forms, and the Pro-Forms work with PayPal Standard.

So you can use coupons, but you wouldn't be using the PayPal buttons, instead you'd use the PayPal pro-form in your website, where the person can apply a coupon, and on hitting the submit button he'll be taken to PayPal (if you were using PayPal Pro he'd remain in your website).

I hope that wasn't confusing.

I have S2member Pro, and am using Paypal Standard, with recurring billing for membership fees.

Under this arrangement, when people sign up, they are taken to Paypal, and if they don't have a Paypal account, they are given the option of paying with a credit card.

If I use a S2member coupon code for a discount on payment, would it still be possible for people to pay with their credit card at Paypal?

The reason I'm asking is because I learned after purchasing S2member Pro, that the Pro forms work only with Paypal Pro. At this point, I'm not interested in either getting Paypal Pro or any other payment gateway.

So before I set up coupon codes, please let me know if it will work with Paypal Standard.

Thanks.

Hi Pauline.

Pro-Forms working with PayPal Standard would be using Express Checkout, which we recently checked for this and confirmed would require the customer to have a PayPal account to pay. I'm very sorry about that.

We're looking at how we could add the coupon codes feature to the buttons so the customer isn't required a PayPal account to pay.
