"download interrupted" - Any idea why?

I realize that this is not likely to be an S2Member issue, but thought someone here could help. A member of one of my sites usings Windows 7 and Internet Explorer cannot get any of my downloads to work. There are about 6 mp3s from about 10 to 35 mbs. He keeps getting an error that reads "download interrupted."

Any idea how I can diagnose the problem? Are there logs on my hosting account or S2member that I can view? I did an internet search and came up blank.

Thanks Cristián. I've read that post several times since it was first put up, but it's a bit over my head. I'm using BlueHost and I do have continual issues with "throttling" because they say I am using too much in the way of server resources. I'm going to upgrade to their highest level of hosting. And if necessary move to a dedicated server. Though the dedicated server route scares me. It seems like it will be a lot of work for someone like me who is used to Cpanel.

I'm hoping the download problem is specific to the one user. No other user has reported a "download interrupted" problem.

Is it possible to look somewhere on a hosting account and find out why a download was not completed? I realize the question is "above and beyond the call of duty." Just though I'd ask.

I don't know if the PHP or Apache logs would mention that, but you could check.

By the way, if you have an s2Member Pro Unlimited Sites license, you can try the latest Release Candidate of s2Member, it adds Amazon S3 support, which may help you with this problem.

Thanks Cristián. I do have Pro Unlimited. How does AmazonS3 help? I store my download on S3 and they will not be served from Bluehost? Will that also cut down on script loading and server load and all that stuff?

I'm actually a little annoyed with Bluehost. As my files are not very large and I don't have a huge number of users. It seems like they should be able to handle all this "out of the box. But, oh well.

Yeah, I can understand that you'd be upset.

About the S3 integration, right now I can just say what's in the documentation, so it'd be better that you go read it directly. You can find it at WP Admin -> s2Member -> Download Options -> Amazon S3/CDN Storage Option

Hey Ryan,
Did you ever figure this out? I'm having the exact same issue. And I too am hosted on bluehost. I called bluehost twice and they have no clue. "it works on my system", is what they say. They are using linux. Only difference is I'm trying to let my free members download a 300k. exe installer. But having this same issue. It's so annoying. I just wonder how many were not able to download compared to the 2 that called me about it. ugggh

I found out what's going on. It's an SSL redirect issue that you are having. At least that's what's happening to me. wordpress doesn't seem to be doing the secure download very well and it's causing a SSL redirect to happen on the link to your file downloads.
