Free membership with special page access

I am building a website for my high school class. We do not want to charge for membership, but we do want a page where classmates can "buy now" their reunion fees. Here is what I would like to do:

* Non-members/guests/people not logged in can view certain pages.
* When a classmate registers, I want to verify they are actually a classmate (small class, this is reasonable) before granting them access to everything. When the are registered buy unapproved, they can have read only access.
* When I upgrade their account, it is for lifetime and they do not need to renew anything via Paypal
* Create a "Buy Now" Paypal button for class reunion dues. I think I have this done correctly (sandbox), but I haven't figured out how to get it onto my signup page.

Can I do this? I tried to set up a free membership for 99 years, but the max is 5. If this is possible, I'm missing the connection on how to do it.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Yes, this is possible with s2Member v3.0+. In s2Member 3.0, we've introduced an Auto-EOT system, which also gives s2Member's Button Generator the ability to configure Fixed-Term ( Buy Now ) Subscriptions that are non-recurring, and/or a Lifetime Subscription that is non-recurring. You can even have Fixed-Term Subscriptions that are not tied directly to a PayPal® Subscription. Please upgrade to the latest version, and then go to: s2Member -> PayPal® Buttons, for full details.

If you encounter trouble or confusion, please consider a professional installation of s2Member. We offer professional installation based on a list of requests similar to what you've given. Once we configure everything for you, you can take it from there.

Yes, but it still generates a PayPal button, and paypal does NOT accept less than 0.01 price for payment.

What if I just want to allow Free memberships, without payment? Just "Register"?

See: s2Member -> General Options -> Login Welcome Page -> Allow Free Subscribers. You can turn that "on". Then, you can send Users who wish to register for free, to this page:

Code: Select all
http://www.example.com/wp-login.php?action=register

Futher details are provided in that configuration panel.

Hi I had this same question, thank you for your explanation. As far as the other part of the question - being able to verify your members before they are granted access, is this also possible? It looked like once they registered they were "in" without any verification from the admin.

I only wish to allow certain people and I will not be charging. Currently I have the site password protected and I manually enter all new users. I would like to allow them to register, then I can verify them and grant access. Can I do this?

I too have a question relating to this. When a guest signs up using the register screen rather than a paid membership paypal buttons access. How do I configure the 'free sign up', access to information that differs from those who do not sign up at all also giving them some access to Level 2 pages? and can I also have this sign up integrate with my auto-responder account? Thanks

No, not really. If you want to "grant" individual access. I suggest using the new Level #0 in s2Member v3.0.6+. Using Level #0, you can allow Free Registrations, and limit their access to the bare minimum. This is now possible in s2Member v3.0.6+.

Once you've had a chance to review the account, you can click edit next a User in the list ( see: WP Dashbaord -> Users ), and promote them to an official s2Member Level #1 or higher. Your choice.
