And like i already said the reason i am deleting the users manuly is because the plugin is not auto deleting them.. otherwise what would be the point of searching each users id in paypal to see if they are paid up each day.

Its hard enough getting support these days can we please not go over the same info we have already been over again.

When possible, please update me on the status of this previous post.
erichamby wrote:i got 2 users thats accounts will run out sunday so ill wait to see what happens once more. i have waited about 2 weeks however and still they users account has not been degraded. The email i get from paypal says they there has been a failed payment attempted and there will be no more attempts. so i guess it only tries once. Where do i see this setting in paypal?

OR, if you can help me understand better by supplying a log file that indicates either an unexplained error, the the lack of something that you feel should have been included in the log file, but was not.

So far, I understand that you feel s2Member is not reacting properly to what is actually happening at PayPal. However, the log file that you've provided, indicates that s2Member was contacted appropriately.

I understand that you are saying the timing is not correct. However, in order for me to address the issue, we need to narrow our search down to a specific Member. In other words, I need to see more information from you regarding the exact Member, some dates you feel are conflicting, and a log file that includes records maintained during those dates. This way we can see exactly what is happening.

With your assistance, we will determine the issue and provide you with a solution.

2 users signed up on the 17th with a one week sub, both users canceled their reoccurring billing right after payment. Today is the 30th and both users are still showing has premium members.

Eric,

I couldn't follow all the code and discussion, but my questions are

(1) are your PayPal button settings correct for the period you are selling, and
(2) are you giving them enough time to run out the period you sold.

I believe s2 will allow the membership to run out unless it receives a refund notice from paypal. I think that even if you cancel the users membership, their access will still run, unless you refund their payment.

Could that be a factor in your situation?

yea everything is correct. Why would i be here complaining about the plugin not degrading if i am manual degrading them to early?

Sometimes folks don't see the mistakes they are making and it helps to take a second look after being reminded. My guess is that it is in a setting you have selected as I test for the same problem and discovered the error myself. Now the system degrades properly after I achieved an understanding of which PayPal button went with which matter.

maybe you have made an error like that but do not see it.

So what exactly was causing your issue?

Mine were being totally degraded. Turns out I was using the regular paypal button instead of the modification button to control what level they went to.

Either way, when I canceled a membership, the member retained access, because s2 will let them have access until their paid for term expires. I refunded their money and s2 canceled the access immediately.

That was my experience.

Nope. I had to stop using the plugin due to lack of support.

Youch. What solution are you using instead?

Also, what method of cron were you using, manual or wp-cron for the Paypal EOT?

It seems there is no more answer from official team here. I will be curious to know about alternative solution.

I did manage to get a little (sometimes he answers, sometimes he doesn't) support from Jason via e-mail about another issue but you'd think he would be more likely answer questions on here so at least they would be available to people who are searching. Seems like it would potentially save him some time from answering e-mails, right?

I never found one.

Ok. What type of cron?

I am asking about cron because I think that's the key to making degradations work. This is not obvious enough in the setup and options in my opinion. Also, it says WP_Autocron (or whatever) is recommended but doesn't say what it is and that it requires another plugin. The way it's worded makes it sound like it's something built into s2member which was confusing to me.

With this said, I am excited to say that I just saw my first two EOT auto-degrades work at EXACTLY 24 hours after period expired, after the first crons ran. BOOM! :D

Also of note, I should mention that my Paypal IPN History (from paypal's site) was showing that some of the notifications weren't coming through, probably due to me having the site password protected via .htaccess - I removed that too and the notifications stopped failing.

Is WP_Autocro the plugin that it needs? ill have another go at it and see. I set up crons for the plugin via SSH but may have been an error.
