A few questions

I'm wondering a few things about how to create buttons and manage memberships...
1. s2member can create buttons for me, but there seems to be no choice in the button graphic that gets generated. Is it possible to get a s2member-generated button to avail of the "Pay Now" graphic that PayPal provides, and if so, how?
2. Buttons created by s2member appear to be un-encrypted and therefore provide hackers with an easy way to alter membership prices, etc. I understand that encryption is coming in a new version of s2member, but in the meantime it seems as if it's recommended that people use buttons that are generated and hosted by PayPal, rather than those generated by s2member. That's fine, except it is not clear just what needs to be done on the PayPal side for PayPal to generate a button that will interface with s2member ... is there any documentation that describes just what needs to be done?
3. I understand that if somebody paid through a s2member-generated button for a 1-year membership, then s2member will automatically demote them back to membership level 0 after one year. Suppose that close to one year later, but before their first year has expired, they want pay to renew their membership for another year. Does anything special need to be done in order for s2member to reset the clock for this member, so that they remain at s2membership level 1 for another year? A "modification button" would seem to only apply in cases where the year has expired, so does a normal "level 1 access" button accomplish the intended 2nd year renewal when the 1st year isn't yet over?
4. I'm building all this into a site for a non-profit organisation, and some members will still pay their annual dues by cheque, rather than paying online. I know how to manually promote such people from s2member level 0 to a higher level. But is there any way to manually specify a corresponding time period (such as 1 year) after which there will be an automatic demotion back to level 0?
Thanks,
- David.
