Q: Why has my credit card / debit card been authorized for $1.00 after registration?

A: Sometimes a $1.00 temporary authorization hold may be applied to your credit card / debit card after registration. The authorization procedure is required to ensure your card is valid. Typically, these holds are removed after 48-72 hrs. The full amount will immediately be credited back to your bank account or credit line. No permanent charges will be applied to your credit card for signing up as a regular member unless you purchase a membership.

Hi Jason...

Not sure if it was on a video or an online gaming site....but I seen it on most...Amazon web services do that even when you change your credit card information..

Gotchya. Yea, that's good information to make available to Customers. I've had sites in the past where a few of my Customers were caught by surprise on this.

The amounts and techniques vary from one Payment Gateway and/or scenario to the next, but it's always good to make your Customer's aware of this possibility. Thanks!
