Constant Contact and other Autoresponders

Postby shaliam » May 8th, 2011, 11:52 pm

I was looking at getting the developer version of S2 except I cannot find any tutorials about using autoresponders otehr than mail chimp or awebber. I have clients using other services and I am running some cleints through my server. Switching clients to another service considering canspam is not realistic, any instructions verses therory on intigrating other auto responders? Particularly Constant Contact and Get Responce :?:

Hi Shaliam. :)

You can integrate other services using the Notifications API. WP Admin -> s2Member -> API / Notifications

I hope that helps.

Can you be more specific and perhaps point to some instructions?

There aren't instructions for the integration with other services, it'll depend on the service you're integrating with, but the API makes it possible to integrate.

This video talks about the API a little http://www.s2member.com/api-tracking-no ... ons-video/

Thanks for your help so far,
I have both S2member and constant contact in sync, in that constant contact records the email on registration, however I have to map the individual constant contact fields to s2members, so constant contact records the fields like first name last name etc... I need an alternate plugin or edit the s2member plugin with the field names of consant contact, can you refer me to which plugin file or alternantive I can use to accomplish, this is the instructions provided by constant contact:

Specify the mappings for your extra fields, if these fields are found in your register form they will be sent to constant contact, you should define these in the format FirstName:ActualFieldname and separate with a comma. You will only need to change the second value to match your form fieldnames.

Note: the fields are not automatically added; you must use another plugin such as Register Plus to add the fields to your register page:

FirstName:FirstName, MiddleName:MiddleName, LastName:LastName, JobTitle:JobTitle, CompanyName:CompanyName, HomePhone:HomePhone, WorkPhone:WorkPhone, Addr1:Addr1, Addr2:Addr2, Addr3:Addr3, City:City, StateCode:StateCode, StateName:StateName, CountryCode:CountryCode, CountryName:CountryName, PostalCode:PostalCode, SubPostalCode:SubPostalCode, Note:Note, CustomField1:CustomField1, CustomField2:CustomField2, CustomField3:CustomField3, CustomField4:CustomField4, CustomField5:CustomField5, CustomField6:CustomField6, CustomField7:CustomField7, CustomField8:CustomField8, CustomField9:CustomField9, CustomField10:CustomField10, CustomField11:CustomField11, CustomField12:CustomField12, CustomField13:CustomField13, CustomField14:CustomField14, CustomField15:CustomField1

The notifications have replacement codes that you can use for this. You can read the API documentation here WP Admin -> s2Member -> API / Notifications.

We plan to add more built-in integrations with other services, but you probably understand that we can't cover them all by default, it's just not practical. At least the plugin provides the means to integrate with other services depending on the custom need.

The Pro version doesn't add functionality for the list servers or notifications API, the free version will do all s2Member can already do in this regard. You don't need the s2Member Pro if you were looking for a different list server integration from it.

The documentation covers pretty much all one needs to use the current integrations available, or work on new ones using the notifications API. If they are not something you know how to do yourself, you can find freelance developers that will know how to do them. http://jobs.wordpress.net

Basically, each of the events that have a notification, when they happen s2Member will load the URLs you enter into their boxes. These URLs can use the replacement codes available to them. The URL could be to a service that lets you work with it directly via URL, or to a custom script of yours that'll take care of what you want it to do (like sending an email to the service, for example).

I hope that helps. :)
