Membership Level Roles - Author a Post?

My membership is based at Level 0-4. However, when someone registered and is assigned the role thru S2Member, they don't have the ability to Author a post. If i admin this in the USERS section, it takes it from the Level 1, 2, 3, 4 or Free to Author - and I'm not sure that the Levels will work as they should. Does this make sense?

Kind people, can anyone please tell me where I'd change this setting so that all my members have the ability to create a post on my site? The blog is an unrestricted page to the public, but only my members can create a post.

You'd need to edit the s2Member Level role they have so it has the capability to edit posts. You'll need a plugin like the User Role Editor. https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/user-role-editor/

Thanks for the lead - i've installed it and explored my options - not sure if i'm understanding how the two should work together - here's a screen grab of my user role definitions and my dashboard (sans Publish Post option)

I don't think i'm making myself understood. I understand WP user roles and the plugin of user role capabilities - but they aren't playing nice with S2Member's plugin. Is this possible or are others able to do it?

I see from your screenshot that you didn't check the Edit Posts capability, have you tried that? https://codex.wordpress.org/Roles_and_C ... edit_posts

I'm not very familiar with editing capabilities. You could try asking the author of the User Role Editor plugin about this, he will be more familiar with what's needed to give a role the ability to post. http://shinephp.com/community/forum/user-role-editor
