Confused; s2member, buddypress, bbpress??

Postby proline » July 15th, 2011, 1:01 pm

Hello,

I've been searching the internet now for a couple of days but without luck..

I want to setup a wordpress website where customers choose a package, after paying with paypal they get redirected to the forum. So forum access is only allowed at the moment a customer paid.

What is the best setup to take right here? I installed s2member, which setting up is very easy with a good guide. But i can not get the forum to work together with s2member. (At the moment i've got a clean install of wordpress without any plugins! (Except some irrelevant plugins)

Everywere i read buddypress and bbpress but do i need to use both? together with s2member? When i only install bbpress i dont get something like a forum. (Wel admin panel, linked it to WP but no forum)

My wish is a forum which looks familiar to phpBB (So with subforums etc)

Which steps to take? And maby some installation guides/manuals/movies for my particular questions?

ty very much!

I dont know about buddypress or bbpress, but i know that Mingle forum is a simple forum that is integrated with WP so it is as easy to limit/give access with s2Member than it is to limit/give access to any single page or post or content.

I have it installed on my site and you can see that if you click the forum tab, you will NOT see the forum, but a message i customized. If you had purchased the package, you would see the whole forum appear.

But i have no experience with the other forums you mentioned so i cannot compare the features.

Well i mentioned those forums because everywere i looked i saw mostly those two forums together with s2member. So i guessed those where the unofficial 'standards'.

But its totally no problem if it would be some other forum, i'll go deeper in to mingle forums :)

ty for your fast reply!
