How to prevent a new subscriber/blog owner to NOT be admin?

Postby Oedipa » August 3rd, 2011, 6:47 pm

So I've posted another question as to how to prevent new subscribers from seeing the s2member options in the Dashboard, but perhaps I need to rephrase the question a bit. It seems that when someone signs up for access to my site and then they get a blog based on their user name, they are made an Administrator of their new blog. Which in theory is ok (I want them to publish posts and stuff), EXCEPT WPMU and S2Member simply grant the new LEVEL 0 user access to just about everything on my Dashboard. So now they can grab ALL my payment gateway stuff, etc. You get the picture.

How can I adjust what happens when a free Level 0 subscriber signs up and is assigned a new site? Can I STOP them from becoming an Administrator somewhere? It seems DEEPLY flawed to me, but there it is. So I now have to fix it somehow.

I know PHP, but am learning Wordpress.....

Thanks!

So since this thread hasn't really garnered much interest I continued doing research on this crazy s2Member automagically assigning new Subscribers their own blog administrator roles and how the Dashboard works. So my users appear to the Network and Site Admin as Subscribers....except when I log in as them. Then they see themselves as Administrators of their own blog. They don't see other users, but they do whatever the F*&^ they want with the s2Member settings. Which. Is. Not. Ok. Am I seriously the only one experiencing this issue and who feels violated by it? Have I misconfigured something obvious?

Should I just write a Kill S2Member Plugin that KILLS the s2Member plugin from the Dashboard when anyone UNABLE to activate plugins logs in? Would that cover the difference between me as an administrator and my subscribers who want to look at and readjust all my setttings?
