I have searched te forum without result.

I have the need on my website to protect pages with a membership.The membership is free but need to be aproved by me. Is it possible to use s2member like this?

Yes. You can protect content at Level 0 (free member) with s2member, and use another plugin for new accounts activation like http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/new-user-approve/

Just wanted to say this post was very helpful, have the same need where one of my clients does not want to charge for membership but DOES want to approval all Members.
