Lost password redirect for child sites

Postby mchildress » August 10th, 2011, 11:25 am

I'm using s2 for a blog farm at OutdoorBlogger.com. The problem I'm running into is that if a member has lost his/her password and uses the lost password functionality, everything works great up to the point where the member logs in with their new password. Once the password has been reset, the user is asked to log in, but is directed to the login page of the main site and not their child site.

As an example, I created a test site called "voodooblue" and used the lost password functionality. Again, works fantastic up into I am asked to login after the password has been reset. I am redirected to the outdoorblogger.com/wp-login.php page rather than the outdoorblogger.com/voodooblue/wp-login.php

I realize there is limited support for blog farm configs that have not purchased the package, but any hints would really help me. Thanks so much - Mike

I don't know much about multisite, Jason does that, and this doesn't seem related to s2Member really, so I can't help very much with a solution for your problem.

Those parts you're having trouble with are handled by WordPress, not s2Member. Have you tried searching Google for this problem or asking in the WordPress forums?

To be honest Cristián I haven't checked the WordPress forum assuming that the password redirect was through s2 but I'll make sure to check and post back my results here. Hopefully I haven't wasted anyone's time. Thanks again.

Oh, don't mention it, I'm just sorry I wasn't able to help. I hope you solve it without much trouble. :)

Hi Cristián,

Ok, well I couldn't find anything that directly applied on the WP forum but I did find a fix that I think works on all levels. From my main (parent) site administrative page, here is what I did:

I went to Dashboard > s2 Member > General Options > Login Welcome Page (expanded)

On the Login Welcome Page configurations, I choose to implement the "Special Redirection URL" functionality and set it to http://outdoorblogger.com/%%current_user_login%% using the available short codes.

So, if an owner of a child site needs to password reset, it goes through the process of successfully changing their password, and then, once that is completed, the user is redirected to the homepage of their child site with the administration bar at the top.

Seems to work great. If Jason happens to glance over this, hopefully he will correct me if I'm leaving anything glaring open.

Thanks again Cristián!
