Lower post level restriction individually

Sorry if this has been addressed before, but I couldn't find the answer. I know there is a way to individually restrict a post to a higher level with the meta box. But how can I do the opposite? i.e. make a post that is restricted by default become available to everyone?

This would be useful to select some of the posts as free samples of the site's content.
