Dif pricing to same files?

Hi,

I don't think I've seen this question asked before.

I have a site where all pages will be open to the public. However, I want to offer the same download files at two different price points, depending on what member level they are.

In other words,
- file1.mp3 costs $1.99 for member level 1 (new members)
- file1.mp3 costs $0.99 for member level 2 (grandfathered members)
Same file, different pricing depending on member level, files are purchased a la carte (so purchasing yearly subscription is NOT required to be a member of either level...rather, member level is only to determine price to be charged for a la carte file purchases)

Is that possible???

ok, i went through all the video tutorials so i can answer part of the question (yes) but still unsure about the other part of the question.

the part that i know can be done is pricing differently to dif people for the same files. you can create paypal buttons for the different price points for level 1 and level 2, and then use conditional statements to say 'if logged in and can access level 2, display this button; else if logged in and can only access level 1, then display this other button'.

the part i'm still not sure is whether s2member allows memberships without a paid subscription (so non-members who visit the site can still buy stuff but at a higher price than for members). if i manually add users, it asks for a paypal subscr id. can this be a bogus id# or would something break in future purchases?

I would advise against going bogus. Instead, just leave the field blank. If you do NOT have a Paid Subscr. ID, just leave that field blank. You can still give the Member whatever permissions you'd like to give them. Just don't give s2Member information that would be invalid. Empty fields are perfectly fine. None of those additional fields under the s2Member heading are required. They're ALL optional.
