PayPal Subscription

Postby HD1512 » October 26th, 2011, 2:14 pm

Hi there,
I've just installed the S2Member plugin and activated a PayPal business account. I want subscribers to my site to be able to have a monthly subscription which they can pay for either with a PayPal account or credit card. I've upgrated my PayPal account to have the premium subscription features. Here in the UK it appears you don't have to pay a monthly fee but you do have higher transactions costs.

In any event when I generate the PayPal button from S2Member it generates a "pay now with PayPal, the safer way to checkout" button (or something like that), but if I go in from PayPal and generate a Subscription button it has the icons for credit cards and says "Subscribe", which looks much cleaner and lets subscribers know they can use a credit card. However, I imagine I need to generate the button from S2Member in order for it to be linked up properly? Is this correct? Or can I use the button generated from PayPal? If not is there anyway to get the cleaner looking "Subscribe" button through S2Member?

Many thanks

Try using pro-forms.
You'll find them under WP Admin -> s2Member -> PayPal® Pro Forms.

Unfortunately I don't seem to have that option in the s2Member menu. I imagine its for s2Member Pro. Considering i don't need a paypal pro account nor an s2member pro to charge a subscription rate is there no other way to do this? changing a piece of the button generation code or something?

It is for s2Member Pro.
Changing a piece of the code won't help, since the button must be integrated in WordPress.

Okay thanks, so basically the answer is no - I can't use the "subscribe" button with s2member, the standard version?

You can, but not the pro-forms, that basically ask all the information needed without the need to go to another page.

You can use the PayPal button generated with s2Member's shortcode and change the image to the one you prefer using the image attribute. WP Admin -> s2Member -> PayPal Buttons -> Shortcode Attributes -> image

I hope that helps. :)
