Fatal Errors w/BuddyPress

Postby hlinki » October 26th, 2011, 1:55 pm

I tried installing BuddyPress with the s2member Pro and s2clean theme. I got fatal errors. As I am still in the beginning of setting up the sight, I reinstalled Wordpress, s3member Pro, s2clean, BuddyPress, and the template pluggin to allow me to adjust s2clean. Got more fatal errors. Again reinstalled wp, s2m pro, and bp without s2clean...again fatal errors. Here are some of them at different stages. Suggestions?

Thanks for your inquiry.

This looks like you're hitting a default memory limit on your web server. If you have enough plugins installed into WordPress, this may happen. The fact that errors are being triggered in s2Member's files is irrelevant, since it could just be that s2Member is last to load up in your array of plugins.

Here are a couple of things I would take a look at:

1. Increase memory limit to 64M, see:
http://codex.wordpress.org/Editing_wp-c ... ted_to_PHP

2. Review your other plugins for memory leaks. You should run somewhere around 15-30MB of memory with WordPress/s2Member and a few other plugins. If you're constantly tapping out 30-40MB+, you might have a rogue plugin somewhere with a memory leak.

The only pluggins activated are s2member Pro, WP Show IDs, and BuddyPress. I have s2clean activated for the theme. When I go through the steps of activating BuddyPress I just leave the defaults until it gets to "theme". Then it says to load the "BuddyPress Template Pack" to be able to use my s2theme. The other choice is to use their default theme. When I make this selection and it adds the BP Template Pack, I get the errors. I have to reinstall WP to even be able to login again.

I tried again without s2clean loaded, just left it to choose the default theme of BP, and still get an error:
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 122880 bytes) in /data/25/2/37/76/2363728/user/2594466/htdocs/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-core/admin/bp-core-admin.php on line 468

I have nothing else loaded and plenty of memory on my drive, so I don't know why it will not load.

Thanks for the follow-up.

Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted, indicates that your installation of PHP and/or WordPress is limited by configuration to 32MB of memory. So regardless of how much memory your server has, this configuration needs to be modified a bit. Please see:

Thank you! The memory was in the default-constants.php file. Thanks for the quick response, I panicked a bit. Now to watch the videos again and start building all over. P.S. I love your videos. They are easy to follow and straight to the point. I would love to see you do one or two on the s2clean theme (hint).
