s2member and optimizepress redirection issues

Postby whoismarktaylor » October 12th, 2011, 1:39 pm

I have already read the exhaustive thread with christian

Am i missing something?

No matter how i configure the pages i cannot get my sales page ( for want of a better expression ) to display as i get a too many redirects issue.

If i disable s2member then everything is ok however the site is not secure duh!

Anyhoo, here is what i wanted to do:-

Have sales page ( created in OP ) on the home page so anyone visiting mydomain.com lands on a sales page.

if they decide to hit up the paypal buttons then they go through the gateway and drop out on the registration page.

After registering they are in the members home

Sound fair?

What a nightmare... been at this all day.

I have no issue with purchasing pro, although im tempted by wishlist but as yet haven't researched if im going to have the same issue. God i hope not!

Why am i having this nightmare. Is their no simple way to have a page created in OP as the 'home' page and then use s2member to protect the content inside.

Everything is set up inside OP the sales page, the membership area. I just haven't uploaded the content yet.

what am i missing...?

After setting up the WP reading settings to choose the sales page..

It kind of made sense to choose the same page as the members options page inside s2member because that is where the paypal buttons are to buy access...

of course i get an error.

s2Member: Your Membership Options Page is currently configured as your Home Page ( i.e. static page ) for WordPress®. This causes internal conflicts with s2Member. Your Membership Options Page MUST stand alone. Please correct this. See: WordPress® -> Reading Options. Or change: s2Member -> General Options -> Membership Options Page.

however it seems no matter what i set the members options page to ( i have tried 4 or 5 different pages i am coming out with too many redirects ( however i do seem to lose the warning above,)

I think i must be missing something basic but fundamental.... olease please please help

So if their are any optimizepress users out there and have a solution using s2member then holler back y'all.

i can only assume im on my own.

It doesnt make sense to me, that i have to make my home page a level 1 members only so that s2member redirects to another page that displays the sales letter!!!!!!

no matter what page i create and set in general settings as the index page.... s2member will cause an issue and cause a redirect loop.

If on the other hand i make that page a protected page at whatever level... then it will redirect to my members option page.... which sort of works....but the ugly url is not good.

also i cant see why this is necessary..

I'm sorry, usually you would get an immediate response, but Cristián wasn't active these last days.
Don't worry one of these days you will have an answer, Cristián is back.

Hi Mark. Thanks for your patience.

Could you please show me a screenshot of the settings for the Membership Options, the Login Welcome and the Home pages?
WP Admin -> s2Member -> General Options -> Membership Options Page
WP Admin -> s2Member -> General Options -> Login Welcome Page
WP Admin -> Settings -> Reading -> Front Page

And could you please also post the URL to those pages? I'd like to take a look.

Thanks!

i have sent the files...

i have had to channge the home page to a level 1 page so that it redirects to the 'options' page...

the sales page is practically the same page... FYI ( so i dont confuse you..

Mark

urls...

http://elasticattitude.com/options
http://elasticattitude.com/members-home
http://elasticattitude.com

P.S is their an easy way to get the redirect after payment to go a different page rather than the grey standard one? :)

I see. You seem to have sorted it out, then? It worked for me, sent me to your Membership Options page in all cases, the the correct required level shown in the URL.

Since you protected the home page at Level 1, you may as well put content for members there, then.

To specify another return page after payment, if you have s2Member Pro you can use the success attribute in your shortcode. WP Admin -> s2Member -> PayPal Buttons -> Shortcode Attributes -> success

I hope that helps.
