Allow user to select custom capability at registration

For each of our memebrship types we also have two distinct 'schools' that the member can join - for which we're using custom capabilities. Is it possible to add a drop down to each registration form for the user to choose which 'school' they join?

I posted a question that sort of hovers around this idea. Are you associating a registration field, and a custom capability entry so that a user who is part of a particular school, would have access to a specific page?

Assuming you'd be able to have the dropdown (which someone else will have to answer), how are you making the link between the school, and the specific page? I may be making too many assumptions here. Thanks!

Instead of a drop down, could you simply use two buttons, one for each course?

To answer your question,

no, custom capabilities are created during checkout. To do what you want to do, you'll have to create a custom field, and use that as a custom capability (it really doesn't work that differentently.)

Awesome... that's exactly what I was looking for..! Much appreciated...

I'm assuming that membership levels are created in the same way? Or can I implement one registration page with the ability for users to select their required membership level from a drop-down menu?

Could you clarify?

Are you talking about creating a dropdown to change the Buttons, or do you want to allow multiple levels to be accessed for free?
