Product setup

Postby itsaboutcash » November 11th, 2011, 8:16 pm

Hi,

I have a client that has 9 different services that all include a recurring maintenance charge. I'm new to s2Member and I'm wondering what is the best way to set this up.

My original thought is to use membership level one for the recurring with each package set up with the trial period being the charge for each package.

All input would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Jerry

Now officially accepting Professional s2Member installations along with Bruce C (a.k.a. Ace).

If you're interested in a Professional s2Member Installation, or a Custom Coding Job, you can send your request here.

But ccaps can only be sold separately with one-time payments. I'll ask Jason how to do this, but I think it's not yet possible to have separate subscriptions. Please wait for his input on this.

Thanks. I was thinking custom capabilities would do the job but wasn't sure. I really don't need for them to have memberships just a setup fee for each package then the recurring maintenance fee which is the same for all packages.

Will customers choose one of these nine packages, or do they need to purchase and pay for each of them on a recurring basis, separately?? Normally, you would just create nine different Payment Buttons/Forms, perhaps all at the same level, but with slightly different rates, and possibly a different set of Custom Capabilities with each of them. And yes, the Initial/Trial Amount can be used to collect the first payment. Future payments would be collected at a later date via recurring fees.

Product Page

Package 1
Description

Setup Fee $150
Monthly maintenance $20
Buy Now

Package 2
Description
Extras

Setup Fee $250
Monthly maintenance $20
Buy Now

Package 3
Description

Setup Fee $350
Monthly maintenance $20
Buy Now

The maintenance fee is the same for each package in this group of services. The 9 packages start with the base service then addons as they step up the ladder. Each package is purchased separately.

I figured the custom capabilities would let me set Level 1 up for the recurring and use separate buttons as you showed in your training video.

Thanks.
Jerry

P.S. Now if you had a training video on how to set AlertPay up using the PayPal IPN I’d have a happy client.

Right. For instance, forget Levels. Just have everyone signup at Level #1 ( i.e. a paying Customer ).
You might sell package #1 with an Initial/Trial Amount of $150, that costs $20/mo after the first month of service. This would come with Custom Capability "package1" at Level #1. They now have access to any content you make available at Level #1, and/or via the Custom Capability "package1".

This customer has now paid you $150 to setup their account, and they are now on a recurring charge of $20/mo. If this customer wants to upgrade to Package #2, you would simply sell them an Independent Custom Capability with s2Member ( via a Buy Now transaction ), that covers the difference between $150 and $250 they would have paid originally for Package #2.

You collect this difference in cost, the customer gains access to Custom Capability "package2", and the original recurring rate of $20/mo remains in existence, from their original purchase. The Level # does not change, they remain at Level #1, but you're adding a new Custom Capability "package2".

* :- ) I hear you on the AlertPay request.
We'll take a look at this in 2012 as the infrastructure is further improved.
