FREE Coupon Code with no CC required

What we are trying to accomplish is to offer free membership to our site as a bonus gift to prospective clients. My dilemma is that even being asked to proved CC information to be charged $0.01 for a free membership will still make people pass it up.

I would also be content if there were some way to use a free registration form (but set to level 1) that would accept and REQUIRE a certain coupon code in order to submit the data.

Is there anyway to accomplish this without using a free registration on a "hidden" page that people would have to go to? We would like to be able to track the registrant by the coupon code they use.
