Custom profile fields

Hi all

I have been having such joy configuring the s2member plugin and planning to purchase the pro version to use paypal pro.

I have just hit a dead end in my project tho - when creating custom profile fields I realised I cannot set a file upload field.

Project now dead in the water.

Can anyone advise me how to work around this?

Use another plugin to compliment s2
use some kind of functional work-around

I have 2 user types - one paid, the other free - and need to allow the paid type to upload files into their profile (doc, pdf, image)

these profiles are then browsed by the free user type (I have this part sorted)

Right, custom fields don't support file uploads yet. I remember others mention using another plugin to add uploads to the profiles. Don't remember the name, though. You could search the plugins directory for one that lets you do that and complement s2Member. https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/

I have searched - there is one that I know of, called Profile Builder. Its front-end Profile management done right. Very good and allows admin to create custom profile file upload fields. BUT it does not currently allow admin to create custom profile file upload fields on a per role basis. Its all or none.

Back to the drawing board.

I know of no other plugin that will allow me to do this on a per role basis - as s2member would, if you included the field type in the admin.

I am gutted because it is a stumbling block in an otherwise perfect solution and I am unable to complete an exciting project.

ps - I have researched this forum and, mentioned elsewhere, is a plugin to allow avatar image file uploads to profiles

pps - I have found s2member really well organised and easy to use, very refreshing after trying a few others with far less features ! It has excited me but now I'm crestfallen - please release an update asap !

Thanks for the kudos, Joe! But what are you expecting in the update?

Regarding the Profile Builder plugin, I haven't tried it or am familiar with it, but if it uses capabilities, you may be able to edit the user roles to have or not that capability using the User Role Editor. http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/user-role-editor/

Or, if it has hooks in its code, you could customize it with a hack to add tha functionality to some roles only, you could ask the developer for tips.

Yes, thanks - I am looking at hacking Profile Builder.

What I'd like in an update to s2member is the ability to add custom file upload fields in profile customisations

Got ya. This is something we want to make possible in a future version of s2Member, but this is at least 2 months away. I took note of your vote for this feature.
