HELP - No more admin access

Postby vrensen » February 10th, 2011, 1:57 am

Hello!

I searched the forum but I couldn't find an answer helping me with the problem I'm faced with. I currently use the S2Member Free version. When I was about to upload my site this morning from my localhost to the external server I was not able to login again because the admin screen simply dissapeared. The attached screen print shows the background of it, but not the actual login window. Could someone help me out?

Regards,
Caspar

Anyone? This is a rather serious issue. If I can't login I'm not able to use the site any longer.
Cheers

Hi Caspar

You can't easily build a wordpress site on a test server and then open a FTP connection and upload it to a live webserver - because there's too many entries in the wordpress database that reference "localhost" (I'm guessing that's how you did it since the screenshot you attached is of your live website, but it has a redirect to localhost in the address bar)

I have a test site on my pc (using wamp). To make the site go live, I installed wordpress on my webhost and installed the plugins I needed. Then I connected using FTP and uploaded my custom theme folder. Then I had my test site and my live site open in seperate browser windows, compared the settings of both wordpress sites, and then recreated each page by copy and pasting content from the test site to the live one.

I'm sure there are other ways to go about this process, but I found this one to be the quickest as it introduced less bugs.

Cheers
